Day - 1 -- Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi Arrive Delhi by late night flight.
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the Hotel. Delhi:
The capital city of modern India has behind it centuries of history,
which has enriched its culture. Nowhere has tradition blended with
modernity on a scale as evident in Delhi-age-old monuments stand
check by jowl with ultra modern hi-rise buildings. Delhi has been
the seat of power for centuries. Today old and new city combine
to present a harmonious whole offering the traveler, elegant shops,
broad laburnum lined avenues, sun warmed elegant forts and mosques
that were once strong hold of Mughal powers and colorful bazaars.
Overnight at The Metropolitan Nikko Hotel.
Day - 2 -- Delhi
Morning: Exploring of Old Delhi takes you to
Jama Masjid, -The largest mosque in India. Drive past the magnificent
Red Fort, - a marvel in red sandstone, built on the banks of River
Yamuna by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Drive past Chandni Chowk,
once an imperial avenue of Mughal Royalty which today is the busiest
commercial area of the city. Visit Raj Ghat (memorial to Mahatma
Gandhi).
Afternoon: Explore New Delhi. Visit the 12th century
Qutab Minar, gracefully hand carved for its entire height of 234ft,
and the iron pillar, which has withstood the ravages of time and
not rusted even after 1500 years. Visit the mausoleum of emperor
Humayun a forerunner of the Mughal style of architecture. Drive
past the India Gate (war memorial dedicated to the lives of laid
down by the Indian soldiers), the president's residence - formerly
the Viceroy's Palace, Parliament House and the Secretariat buildings,
- an interesting blend of the Victorian and 20th century architecture.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day - 3 -- Delhi / Udaipur / Kumbhalgarh
After breakfast transfer to the airport to board
flight to Udaipur. Meeting and assistance on arrival followed by
a drive to Kumbhalgarh (65kms). Arrive directly at the hotel and
check-in.
Overnight at Hotel Aodhi.
Day - 4 Kumbhalgarh - Narlai
The horse safari begins today. After breakfast
mount the elegant Marwari Horse and start riding from Kumbalgarh
through the wildlife sanctuary to reach Mushala Mahveer Ji (ancient
temple) where lunch is arranged. After rest, mount again and reach
Narlai by sunset. Stay overnight at Castle Ghanerao, a heritage
hotel. Its a family run hotel located in the foot hills of
the aravallies and the experience is more like a home-stay than
a hotel.
Day - 5 -- Narlai Rawla Jojawar
After breakfast ride through the lovely bush
terrain on the foot of the Arravali Hills. Passing by colorful villages
and seeing charming servi (farming community) men and women working
in the fields. Camp on the outskirts of Kharchi village for lunch.
After lunch and some rest head towards Rawla Jojawar. A big village
located on the foot of the Aravalli hills where the market is full
of the colorful fabric and beautifully embroide- red leather shoes.
Stay overnight at Rawla Jojawar, a heritage property.
Day - 6 -- Rawla Jojawar - Dhakri
Mount the horse after breakfast, today ride
through the dry plains of Marwar passing through some very picturesque
Rebari villages which gives the chance to experience the hard rural
life of the desert. Stop over for lunch at half way. After lunch
and a bit of rest head towards Sojat a town built around Railway
station. Dismount at Sojat & drive to Dhakri farm to stay overnight
with the charming noble family of Dhakri at their farmhouse.
Day - 7 -- Dhakri - Nimaj
After breakfast drive back to Sojat and mount
the horse to ride along the railway track on one side and barren
fields on the other with herds of Bulls. As we move closer to Nimaj
the terrain changes from the sandy to fertile agriculture land.
Over night at Nimaj , which is a village inhabited by Servi's (a
farming community). Overnight at Nimaj Palace.
Day - 8 -- Nimaj Ras Fort
Leave Nimaj on horseback, the surrounding
once again change into dry and sandy but the small tribal settlements
and the village make it an interesting track. Break journey at the
edge of a lake for lunch and rest for a while. Later move on to
reach Ras Fort just as the sun sets on the horizon. Overnight at
Ras Fort.
Day - 9 -- Ras Fort - Pushkar
After breakfast depart for Pushkar and on our
way pass through some very colorful villages of the Thar Desert.
Thar is said to be the most colorful desert in the world, the area
around Pushkar which is known for Rose cultivation and Horticulture.
Stop over for lunch on a small farm owned by Gujjar community (cattlemen).
Galloping through the dunes enter the valley of Pushkar our last
destination on the horseback.
Day - 10 -- Pushkar Jaipur
After breakfast drive to Jaipur. Meeting and
assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel. Jaipur, also known
as the pink City is a well planned city named after one of greatest
of the Rajput rulers, Maharaja Jai Singh II. It takes its name from
the pink paint on its buildings
Afternoon: Tour begins with a visit to the Maharaja's
City Palace, the former Royal residence, part of it converted into
a museum. A small portion is still used by the Royal family of Jaipur.
Built in the style of a fortified campus, the palace covers almost
one - seventh in area of the city. One of the major attractions
in the museum is the portion known as Armory Museum housing an impressive
array of weaponry-pistols, blunder busses, flintlocks, swords, rifles
and daggers. The royal families of Jaipur once used most of these
weapons. Later visit the Jantar Mantar, which is the largest stone
and marble crafted observatory in the world. Situated near the gate
of the city palace, the observatory has 17 large instruments, many
of them still in working condition.
Overnight at hotel Raj Palace.
Day - 11 -- Jaipur
Morning: Visit Amber Fort. Amber is a classic,
romantic Rajasthani Fort Palace. The rugged, time-ravaged walls
of the Fort may not look beautiful from the outside, but the interior
is a virtual paradise. Miniatures painted on the walls depict hunting
and war scenes, apart from festivals. Precious stones and mirrors
are embedded into the plaster. En-route stop to look at the Hawa
Mahal.
Afternoon: At leisure.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day - 12 -- Jaipur / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra
(By surface - 240Kms: 6Hrs)
After breakfast drive to Agra visiting Fatehpur
Sikri en-route. You will stop at the deserted capital of the Mughal
Empire, Fatehpur Sikri. The city was built by Emperor Akbar between
1570 and 1585 and suddenly abandoned 15 years later due to a severe
water shortage.
Fatehpur Sikri
See the graceful buildings including the Jama
Masjid, the Tomb of Salim Chishti, the Panch Mahal & the other
palaces. The attractions in Fatehpur Sikri are Jama Masjid - a beautiful
building containing elements of persian and Hindu Design, The main
entrance is through the 54 m high Buland Darwaza, the Gate of Victory,
constructed to commemorate Akbar 's victory in Gujarat. The Hawa
Mahal (Palace of the Winds) is a projecting room with walls made
entirely of stone lattice work. Birbal Bhavan, built either by or
for Raja Birbal, Akbar's favourite courtier, this small palace is
extremely elegant in its design and execution. Hiran Minar (Deer
Minaret) is said to have been erected over the grave of Akbar's
favourite elephant. Panch Mahal - This amusing little five-storey
palace was probably once used by the ladies of the Court and originally
had stone screens on the sides. The lower floor has 56 columns,
no two of which are exactly alike. Outside the Jama Masjid are the
remains of the small stone - cutters' mosque. Chishti's cave was
supposedly at this site and the mosque predates Akbar's imperial
city.
Proceed to Agra for overnight stay at The Mughal
Sheraton Hotel.
Day - 13 -- Agra / Delhi / Depart Delhi (By
Surface - 205Kms: 4Hrs)
After breakfast your tour of Agra city starts
with a visit to the Agra fort, a massive sandstone fortress started
by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and completed by his grandson Emperor Shah
Jehan.
Agra
On the banks of the River Yamuna, Agra reigns over a glorious past
created by warriors as skilled in art and architecture as they were
on the battlefield. Later visit the stunningly beautiful Taj Mahal,
built by Emperor Shahjahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz
Mahal. The construction of this building was started in 1631 and
was completed in 1653 using 20,000 workers from all over the country
and central Asia to translate this dream into a reality.
Taj Mahal
Taj Mahal which is the seventh wonder of world built by Shahjahan
as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal by the banks of river Yamuna.
After her untimely death, Shahjahan had her mortal remains buried
in this mausoleum. And after his own demise he was placed to rest
next to his beloved queen in the same mausoleum The Taj has been
called the most extravagant monument ever built for the sake of
love. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays)
Late afternoon drive back to Delhi. As per the flight
departure time option of overnight stay at the hotel or transfer
to the international airport in time for onward journey.
